Andres Rodriguez

Andres Rodriguez, 57, grew up in the Dominican Republic, 3rd child of Maritza Creus de Rodriguez, International Legendary Swimming Coach of the Dominican Republic National Swim Team. As a young athlete he was a member of the Dominican Republic Water Polo National Team 1983, 85, 86, 87, 2001, 2002 and 2003-including CCCAN, Pan American Games, and World Qualifying championship. In 1989 He was awarded a full scholarship to join the University of Arkansas at Litle Rock NCAA Division 1 team in 1989 to compete at the collegiate level in USA. This team went to make it to the NCAA Division 1 finals 2 out of his 4 years and he was team captain of the team in his Junior and Senior years.
As a player:
•Four times Southern USA Championship champs.
•Two times Eastern Championship champs.
•One time NCAA Division 1 Championship “Final 8”.
•1990 and 1992 Team Captain.
•Four times First Team All American.
•Member of the USA Water Polo Southern team for the 1993 Olympic Festival.
•Inducted to the University of Arkansas Hall of Fame for water polo in February 2022.
As a coach:
•Coached the Dominican Republic 15U Junior National Teams that medaled in 1989 at the CCCAN.
•Coached University of Arkansas water polo NCAA Division 1 team in 1993 and 1994.
•Founded the Rockwall Water Polo Club in 2011.
•Coached the Rockwall Water Polo Club in winning the State Championship in 2012.
•Coached the Rockwall HS Water Polo team 2012 to 2016.
•Coached The Olympic Development Team USA (Southern) 2012 to 2015.
•Awarded with the “Top Coach” award, 2013.
•Won the East vs West USA Championship in 2014.
•Joined the Pegasus water Polo Club in 2022 to train young coaches and to help develop training programs.
•As a referee, began referring as a US Water Polo official in 2005, officiating the ODP 18U Gold Medal in 2009, and was head of the North Texas Officials Association (TIWPOA) 2005-2012.
